Lee Young-ji has properly gotten back into her main business. She released her first mini-album, ’16 Fantasy’, five years after her debut. EXO’s D.O. is featured in this new song. He also appeared in the music video as actor Do Kyung-soo. The music video, which is filled with a fresh love story, contains the following content. First of all, Lee Young-ji seems to have a crush on Do Kyung-soo. However, when a petite ‘small girl’ comes into the gas station where Do Kyung-soo is working part-time, Lee Young-ji feels jealous of Do Kyung-soo& the ‘small girl’ who looks so good together. However, Do Kyung-soo has liked Lee Young-ji all along. This fact is proven in the scene where Do Kyung-soo gives Lee Young-ji a surprise kiss on the cheek. Lee Young-ji’s embarrassed & helpless appearance is heartwarming.
There are also rumors that this kiss scene was ad-libbed by Do Kyung-soo. This is because Lee Young-ji’s surprised reaction right after the cheek kiss was so reminiscent of a real situation. Lee Young-ji recently told the behind-the-scenes story of the scene on YouTube’s ‘Channel 15ya’.
She watched the ‘Small Girl’ music video with host Na Young-seok PD. During the kiss scene, she got up from her seat & said shyly, “No matter how much I watch it, I feel guilty. I ran and told the director, ‘I can’t do this,’ and he went in there and did it.” Na Young-seok PD, who has worked with Lee Young-ji on many entertainment shows, also revealed, “Our Young-ji is very shy. She has a serious illness that makes her unable to look a man in the eye.”
When one of the netizens who were watching asked, “Was the kissing scene ad-lib?” Lee Young-ji finally opened her mouth. She said, “I didn’t mention it on goal to keep the public immersed in the music video, but it wasn’t ad-lib, it was something we agreed on,” and “But it wasn’t what I wanted.” She waved her hand and made everyone laugh, emphasizing that it was not the cast’s will but a storyboard.
This scene was filmed when she first met Do Kyung-soo. Lee Young-ji explained, “The director said he wanted to intentionally emulate that awkward & shy feeling. That’s why we filmed it as the first scene.” At the time, Do Kyung-soo kept talking to Lee Young-ji for ice-breaking,& even after the countdown to the start of filming began, they kept talking & then suddenly kissed. Lee Young-ji’s blunt reaction came from this. It was a scene where she begged, “If it’s not necessary, please remove it,” but it was a scene that absolutely couldn’t be done without.
